Our Campaign Mission
Each semester, more than 2,500 University of Virginia undergraduates serve through Madison House as volunteers in Charlottesville or Albemarle County. Madison House staff, along with more than 300 students that uphold the UVA tradition of self-governance by serving Madison House Program Directors, Head Program Directors, and Board members each year, coordinate volunteering efforts with over 110 community partners.
Our partnerships include local food banks, homeless shelters, schools, nursing homes, childcare centers, after-school programs, and many other non-profit organizations. More than 400 volunteers work at the UVA hospital, and others serve at Martha Jefferson and local free clinics. Volunteers provide income tax filing assistance, teach English as a second language, serve as Big Siblings and coaches to local kids, assist migrant workers and refugee children, work on housing improvement, and run a HELP Line and a holiday sharing program, among many other programs.
To realize our vision, Madison House will raise $10 Million in philanthropic support during the Campaign for Madison House. Our efforts are organized by the three priorities highlighted below.
